375,00

Mid 20th century; cm. 47,0 high x cm. 46,0 width (18.50 x 18.11”). With the custom stand (included in the price) the piece is cm. 49,5 high (19.48″).

Used to protect houses and granaries, Bamana doorlocks range from the abstract and symbolic to representations of ancestors. Locks such as these were fixed with large iron staples through holes to house doors, which were usually plain. Placing an image of an ancestor on the doorlock offered additional protection by making the door sacrosanct.
