Old Huge Fulani Anklet – Mali / Niger – Rare Item

Mid 20th century. Bronze grams 1.187,4 (41.88 oz.). Cm. 15,0 high x cm. 12,8 width (5.91″ x 5.04″).

Some cracks due to age and use. The back part has a missing part due to a break (see photos).

Fulani, also called Peul or Fulbe , are scattered throughout many parts of West Africa, from Lake Chad, in the east, to the Atlantic coast. The Fulani were originally a pastoral people, and their lives and organization were dominated by the needs of their herds. The pastoral Fulani today enjoy greater prestige than town and sedentary agricultural Fulani as the most truly representative of Fulani culture.
