We (Ngere) Krahn Mask – Liberia / Ivory Coast

Mid 20th century. Polychrome wood cm. 26,0 high x cm. 17,0 width (10.23″ x 6.69″). Kg 1,2 (42.32 oz.). This mask belonged to a French collector and was acquired in the forties. These masks serve a variety of functions ranging from ritual ceremonies, forms of entertainment, and focal points in moral stories to judicial and political controls. That said, all Wee masks are believed to deflect sorcery attacks.
