This bronze ring originates from Djenné-Djenno, literally “Ancient Djenné,” one of the oldest urbanized centers in West Africa and a major archaeological site in Mali. Located about three kilometers from the modern town of Djenné, this historic settlement played a key role in long-distance trade networks across the region.

Owning such a ring was traditionally a privilege reserved for high-ranking warriors and chiefs, serving as a symbol of status and believed to bring good luck and protection.
