A pair of Ewe Venavi twin figures (female pair), Ghana/Togo. Finely carved with softly rounded volumes and balanced proportions, both figures display the characteristic Ewe emphasis on the head as the locus of spiritual presence. The elongated necks, subtly stylized facial features, and carefully modeled coiffures reflect established regional conventions. The surfaces show a warm, varied patina, with areas of wear consistent with handling and ritual use.

Among the Ewe, such Venavi figures are associated with the complex belief system surrounding twins. They function as surrogate embodiments, cared for, adorned, and ritually attended, maintaining a symbolic relationship between the visible and spiritual realms.
