Antique Large Djenné-Djenno Ring – Mali


Bronze. Cm. 6,5 high (2.56″). Inner diameter cm. 1,7 (0.67″). Gr. 49,7 (1.75 oz.).

Djenné-Djenno, literally translated to “ancient Djenné”, it is the original site of both Djenné and Mali and is considered to be among the oldest urbanized centers and the best-known archaeology site in West Africa. This archaeological site is located about three kilometres from the modern town, and is believed to have been involved in long distance trade.

Owning a ring was a prerogative of high ranking warriors and chiefs for good luck and protection.
