Antique Massive African Currency – Mongo, Nogmbe, Budja – DR Congo
End 19th century. Copper grams 2.240,0 (79.01 oz.). Cm. 11,0 high x cm. 13,0 width (4.33″ x 5.12″).
These heavy open bracelets were used as a means of exchange by many Mongo groups. The horizontal striping is one of its characteristics and requires a certain skill of the blacksmith.
