This elegant female figure was carved by the Mende people of Sierra Leone. The sculpture features an oval head with downcast eyes, a small smiling mouth, a ringed neck, and a distinctive crested coiffure, all characteristic elements of Mende artistic tradition. The prominent breasts and carefully incised geometric patterns across the abdomen emphasize ideals of beauty, fertility, and social status.

The figure displays a pleasing aged surface with signs of handling and use. The harmonious proportions, expressive face, and refined carving give the piece a strong visual presence despite its relatively modest size.
