Old African Currency – Prestige Knife – VERE / DADIYA – North Eastern Nigeria

Forged iron. Cm. 57,0 high (22.44″); weight: grams 458,5 (16.18 oz.).

These knives were used as a means of barter by Vere and, above all, by the Dadiya, an ethnic group on north-eastern Nigeria.
Composed of a blade in wrought iron and a handgrip made of an iron strip wound into a spiral, with fan-shaped tooling.
