The Kuba (or Bakuba) people are renowned for producing exquisite fabrics made from the fibers of the Raphia vinifera palm through a long and complex process involving men, women, and children of the same family. Each piece is soaked, beaten, then meticulously worked and scraped by hand to achieve its characteristic silk-like texture.
