This trousseau bag was embroidered by the women of the Indian region of Bujh Gujarat and is entirely hand-sewn, an expression of the incredible imagination of the women of the Rabari ethnic group.

Contemporary dowry bags retain long standing characteristics, this Dhebaria bag combines border motifs derived from 19th century Kutch courts with Sind related stitches.

The Rabari people are an ethnic group from the Rajasthan also found in Gujarat Kutch region and Sindh region of Pakistan. The Rabari myth of origin is kshatriya that Shiva put them on earth to tend to the camels owned by Parvati.
