Silver grams 15,2 (0.54 oz.); diameter cm. 2,6 (1.02″).

The silver rings worn around the neck in Tigray, Ethiopia, are part of a deeply rooted cultural and spiritual tradition, although not widely documented in Western sources.

These rings are often used as amulets, meaning objects believed to have the power to protect the wearer from physical or spiritual harm. In many Ethiopian cultures, including that of Tigray, silver items are considered pure and sacred, capable of repelling evil spirits.

The Tigrayans are the ethnic group who speak a Semitic language related to Amharic and Ge’ez (a liturgical language). Most of them follow the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian faith (Tewahedo).
