Outstanding Old Pair Berber Fibulae – TIZERZAI – Tiznit Region, South Morocco


Silver, enamel, silver coins, glass. The piece is cm. 66,2 in length (26.06″). Each fibulae is cm 19,0 high x cm 12,0 wide (7.48″ x 4.72″). 286,2 g (10.1 oz).

Essential feminine embellishment, the tizerzai are taken in pairs to close the coat. Wonderful complete piece. The central talisman (HERZ) often has a sheet of paper, closed and sealed, on which is written in Arabic, one or more verses of the Quran selected by an Imam or a Marabout, at the request of a person who wants to be protected from the evil eye, curses, hatred, diseases or also to receive favors or luck.
