Old Ashanti (Asante) Brass Container – Ghana

Cast brass with domed lid, standing on four short feet and fitted with a handle. The surface is densely decorated with finely incised geometric and linear motifs arranged in horizontal registers and triangular panels on the lid, reflecting the high level of Asante metalworking. Such containers were used to hold precious items, ritual substances, or personal valuables, and are associated with status, wealth, and authority within Asante society.
