380,00€
Early 20th century. Iron blade, copper and brass-wrapped handle. Height: 49 cm (19.29 in). Weight: 346 g (12.20 oz).
A refined ceremonial knife from the Ubangi region, attributable to Ngombe or closely related Ngbandi groups. The elongated iron blade displays a distinctive triangular profile, with a pronounced central ridge running from the hilt to the sharply pointed tip. The lower portion of the blade expands into rounded shoulders, creating a balanced and highly symmetrical form.
The hilt is composed of a cylindrical core tightly wrapped with alternating bands of copper and brass wire, producing a rich metallic surface with subtle tonal variation. A flared metal guard marks the transition between blade and handle, while a simple disk-shaped pommel completes the elegant and functional design.
