Old African Currency – BUDJA – DR Congo

Iron. 18th century. The piece is 10,3 wide x 9,3 high (4.06″ x 3.66″). 645,2 g (22.76 oz.).

The Budja are a small group settled in the northern region of the Congo, along the river dell’Itimbiri, a right tributary of the Congo River. This coin, which appears to be an open bracelet, was used in trade. The flat end is marked by a working horizontal stripe.
