Old Berber Frontal Parure – CHARWITA – Geulmim Region, South Morocco

Mid-20th century or earlier. Amber bead, agate beads in various colors, shells, metal elements, glass beads, hair, and fabric. Without the strips: approx. 17.0 cm wide × 11.7 cm high (6.69″ × 4.61″); Weight: 144.4 g (5.09 oz).

Before performing the dance of seduction (Guedra), women of southern Morocco and Mauritania wear a parure adorned with various amulets.
