Aymara Mantle – AWAYO – Bolivia

Mid 20th century. Excellent condition. Dyed sheep and llama natural wool. Approx. cm. 95,0 x 98,5 (37.4″ x 38.7 Inches).

These mantles (Awayo in Aymara language), very robust, are used by women to carry children and belongings.The Aymara are an indigenous ethnic group in the Andes regions of South America; about 2 million live in Bolivia, Peru and Chile.
