Banna Earrings – Omo Valley, Southern Ethiopia
Aluminium. Cm. 4,9 hign x cm. 3,2 width (10.62″ x 2.75″); gr. 8,5 (13.97 oz.) The Banna live in the mountainous region between the river Omo and the river Woito. The Banna are basically pastoralists (cattle, sheep and goats). Most Banna are semi-nomadic. They also grow sorghum, sesame and maize, but yields are meager and insufficient. The wild honey is the only well produced in excess: the honey gives to the Banna a minimum amount of money necessary for purchase of essential goods. The Banana have deep affinity with the Hamar, so they can be considered a single entity: the cultural heritage, political organization and strategies of economic survival are practically the same. Piece directly collected in Omo Valley. We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. Sold
