Old Kuba BARKCLOTH – DR Congo

Hand-beaten tree-bark, painted with organic pigments. Approximately cm. 106,0 x 27,5  (41.43 x 10.83 inches).

This bark cloth is made by beating a layer just under the bark until it’s not thin and pliableis and is the central area of the long prom dresses for decoration and added prestige. This piece is painted generally Kuba geometric patterns.
